Marigold Lawton specialises in painting pastel portraits of animals, mainly dogs and horses, although some of her patrons have chosen to immortalise other creatures as well.  Examples of her recent commissions can be seen by clicking on the buttons opposite.

Marigold is a Member of The Armed Forces Art Society, and a Friend of The Society of Equestrian Art, and has exhibited at several London venues including the Mall Gallery, The National Army Museum, and The Stainer’s Hall, as well as Arundel Castle, Die Stadt Bibliothek (Dusseldorf) and throughout the South of England.  Her paintings have been exported to Australia, Canada and Europe, including Russia.

She took a degree in the History of Art from Southampton University, through the Winchester School of Art, and followed this with a Master’s Degree in Fine Art Valuation from the Southampton Institute.  Her interest in Sporting Art led to her becoming the Secretary of The British Sporting Art Trust, a job she held for eight years.  She retired in 2006 in order to concentrate on her own painting.

Marigold now lives in Cornwall, and her love of the coastal landscape is reflected in her other pastel works, examples of which can be seen by clicking on the SEASCAPES button.  .  Her own children provided the inspiration for many of these scenes but is happy to reproduce clients’ favourite views of their own children playing on beaches, if the photographs are suitable.
